Linda- My worst mistake

My worst mistake
When I got up in the morning I saw the bright sun and the flower smiles nice and it look beautiful but I heard my mum yelling at me from downstairs to get ready   for school.
When I got to the kitchen my mum made me and my brothers, sisters and my dad   breakfasts like: sandwich, juices, coffee, egg, beef and bread ready for us to eat, I had my juice and my sandwich and came to the chair and sat down to eat my breakfast.
My dad put his phone next to me because he sit next to me and I didn’t know that his phone was near by me and when I grab my sandwich I grab my dad’s phone and I put it on my juice and the phone was wet so my dad was not angry at me because it was his  fort that put his phone in the table and now he has to buy another phone and that was my worst mistake.

Linda- Xtra Math

Today I think that I am getting good on my xtra math and I am moving level by level and I think I have no angry face but lots of good face and I want to reach to 100% not 55%.

Linda- Christmas

Christmas

My family and I celebrate Christmas every year. Christmas is an important day to my family because we gather together, eat yummy food, and cherish God.  We exchange presents, go swimming, and do all kinds of fun things.  My favourite food is pork with potatoes and vegetables.  All of our relatives go to our Grandma’s to celebrate Christmas.

Before we meet up at Grandma’s house, we have milo for breakfast.  When we’re at our grandma’s, the first thing we do is write our names on a piece of paper,  put all of our names in a bowl and everyone picks up a scrap of paper.  The person who picked up the name has to give a present to the person who has his or her name on the paper.  Afterwards we decide what gifts we will give to each other, and go shopping for the presents.

We go to Waiwera for Christmas, because we can spend our time swimming while the food is being prepared.  We save the gifts for later, and prepare the food.  We have tuna sandwiches, fruit, chicken, raw fish with vegetables and sauce, pork, potato, kumara, BBQ, Lu Sipi, and cake.  We grab a plate and pick what we want to eat, and sit together on the river bank and have a picnic.  For dessert we have watermelons, Otai (A kind of fruit drink), and banana/chocolate cake.

For lunch I had fizzy drink, tuna sandwiches, cream buns, chicken, and fruit. After lunch we went to the Waiwera pools.  I was feeling brave, and decided to ride the slide with my Uncle.  When I got down I couldn't swim because it was too deep and my Uncle had to lift me up.
He said that I can’t come on this pool because it only for teens and adults but I really want to go in it.

We open our presents after we go home, and we open our gifts one by one instead of everyone opening it at the same time.  The order we open our presents goes from youngest to oldest, so my sister goes first.  My sister got chocolate from my Uncle, and a Christmas card too.  When it’s my turn my Aunty gave me chocolates, a Christmas card, and an Ipad!

A girl standing in front of the fence

The Fence

One day there was a little girl named Emma. She lived in a house with her parents and big brother Sam. They loved living in their house because they had lived there for six years. Emma likes living there because she has a friend named Chloe and they were friends for 4 years now. Chloe and her family has to move to Switzerland because her dad works there so Emma was very sad.

How to play Netball

Netball

Netball is a really hard sport to do.  But I will be teaching you the positions, and how to play it.  Let’s start with the rules.

In netball there are lots of rules, but I am only just going to tell two rules.  The first one is when you’re playing Goalkeeper you can’t stand in too close to the Goal Shooter.  If you did you will get a stand down. You have to take three step away, then you won’t get stand down. The second rule is that a Centre position can’t go inside the goal shooting area.  If you go inside the referee will blow the whistle. The ball will be handed over to the opposition.

 Here are the positions.
Goal Shooter GS- Can move anywhere within the attacking third of the court, but cannot leave it.
Goal Attack GA- Can move anywhere within the attacking third and the centre third of the court.
Wing Attack WA- Can move within the attacking third and centre third, with the exception of the shooting circle.
Centre C- Can move anywhere across the court, apart from either of the shooting circles.
Wing Defence WD- Can move within the centre third and the defensive third, with the exception of the shooting circle.
Goal Defence GD- Can move anywhere within the attacking third and the centre third of the court.
Goal Keeper GK- Can move anywhere within the defensive third of the court, but cannot leave it.

I like to play GK and GS because I like defending the ball and shooting the ball.

In a netball game, you play for 40 minutes each round, and there is 7 people in each team. When you're playing 40 minutes, you have 1 minute breaks. You have to do some running and practise so that you don’t get tired. You can not start the game without the timer and the referee.  The most important rule in netball is that you can’t run with the ball, and if you do that means that you’re stepping with the ball.  Netball is a team sport, so you need to pass the ball to someone else when you have

the ball and make sure that players from the other team don’t get the ball.

I hope you have learnt about netball.  Netball is my favourite sport, and I wish it will be your favourite sport too.

My Telling Where Poetry

Telling Where

L.I. Elaboration

Jack and Annie started through the cloud forest.  They walked around huge trees draped with moss.  They pushed past tall shrubs and leafy plants.

What does the word shrub mean?
A low woody perennial plant usually having several major branches.

What is elaboration?
Elaboration is the result of going that extra mile, such as when your history teacher asks for five paragraphs on the Fall of Rome.

Choose one of these to elaborate on by telling ‘where’.

At the beach or
At the top of the sky tower

It was a hot summer day at the beach.  There are no clouds in the sky, and the sun is shining brighter than any I’ve seen. I see birds eating people’s food when they aren’t looking, fishes are swimming and jumping.  The water floats over the sand.  Soft pillows hover in the sky.

Linda- My Hexagon Art

  Rainbow-circle-in-hexagon

This is my Hexagon Art.
I used a protractor and a compass for my design.
The thing I like best about my art is of the shape and it looks like a flower.
I would change is the colours because they are like mess.
I think that I would do well on my colouring so it dose touch the colour like red touch yellow.
I like doing this art because it fun and it like maths.
I think that different of my art and the real art it bright and my one is little bit darker.

My Nice Work Poetry

Never use the word Run….

Never use the word RUN, our teacher said.
It doesn’t mean a thing!
Try…strong, powerful, breakneck,
rush, race, spring,
fast, walking, sprint–
the choice is as long as a string!
But please, never use the word RUN,
it just doesn’t mean a thing!

My Holiday Reading Report

                                     My Holiday Reading

In the holidays all of the year 7 and 8 students were challenged to read 3 books or more, also once you read, our teacher asked that we did an activity that was on the site.

During my holidays I read 2 books.  The first one was called Fright Night, and the  author was Geronimo Stilton.  The other one was called Matilda and the author was Roald Dahl. It was a great story.

When I was finished with my books, I went on line to see the activities. I chose to do the photo place and I took that photo at the hospital and the other one on the way to Countdown.  Then I had to put it on my blog.

Mengchun & Linda Per Year Rubbish

Rubbish made by R6 per YearR9.png

The total number of rubbish R6 made every year is 16 760.  Chippie packets, fruit peels and cores are the most rubbish made.  It is awful that chippie packets are the most rubbish made because it is not biodegradable.

Rubbish made by 9 Classes per Year9 Classes.png

The total of 9 classes’s rubbish, 150 840 is a large amount of rubbish!  Thats about how many pieces of rubbish PBS throw out every year. That is so much rubbish that goes in the landfill.

That was summer

THAT WAS SUMMER…

Have you ever smelt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember the time we went to the night market looking at different foods
and smelling them.
You picked one of the thai foods,
It smelt hot and steamy.
Remember how the night markets smelt
as we smelt all the different foods.
That was summer.

Have you ever heard summer?
Sure you have.
Remember the time we went to the beach and we could hear people laughing, talking, swimming and running.
Hearing the birds chirping in the trees,
it was high tide
and the grass was hot
That was summer .

Have you ever touched summer?
Sure you have.
When you were so hot and  you
wanted to go for a swim at the beach,
you were scared because you thought there were sharks.
The sun was burning you
but you didn’t know what to do.
That was summer.

Have you ever heard summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time
when the kids were crying,
they were noisy and loud.
That was summer.

Remember that time
when you were at the park,
the children were laughing and yelling.
That was summer.

Have you ever tasted summer?
sure you have.
Remember that time we  were eating bubble gum
and you showed your friends that you
could blow a bubble and it popped on your face.
Do you remember when we ate our yummy  BBQ dinner with our family
                   That was summer.
